American Northwest Helper Training Camp
DATES: 2018 Summer (August 3,4,5)
Inaugural Northwest Helper training camp in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
VENUE:
Pitt Meadows, British Columbia
- 1 hour from Vancouver BC Airport
- 45 mins from Abbotsford BC Airport
- 2 hour from Bellingham Washington Airport
- 4 hour from Seattle Airport
GOALS:
- To guide/instruct the helper/decoy in assessing the different dog types and dog reactions within protection dog training specifically IPO with a strong emphasis put on training each dog individually to its best emotion
- To utilize a common language when describing and labeling dog behaviour for the benefit of easier communication between helpers and handlers
- To promote and support training helpers knowledge and skills in their helper training work for IPO which in turn benefits all handlers in competition
- The final goal of this college is to grow the graduated North American training helpers who are utilizing a common language. These helpers can further instruct new helpers in future colleges in a variety of cities throughout North America thereby creating a ‘movement’
- To create ‘traditions’ within each college that support the spirit, the comaraderie and fun of IPO
PROGRAM:
- Facilitated by Marko Koskensalo (15 year veteran Instructor of the Finnish Helper Training College)
- Three days twice/year and will be open to helpers by invitation only
- 8-10 Helper spaces available, 16 invites have been sent out. A non-refundable Payment of $300.00 will hold your spot. This is the total cost for each helper to participate and will include your lunch for 3 days
- Each training camp will include theory and practical training with dogs including continuous TEAM interaction and TEAM work
There will be one organized group dinner on Saturday evening (venue to be announced)

Training helper spot $250.00 usd (must attend 3 days) INVITATION ONLY
Spectator $75.00/ day Please specify in the notes which day you will be attending
